I think the prices at Costco are less. Rice should never be more than about $1/lb unless it is very special rice.

Sorry, but it's not THAT special. I use Basmati rice here at home all the time (along with Thai Jasmine & Japanese short grain sticky and wild and...). I get the Royal brand Basmati rice at Sam's Club for about $15 per 15# bag. Very nice flavor, great texture & aroma. $1/lb, vs $2.57/lb for Roland.

For wild rice, I bought a bunch of Canadian wild rice off Amazon a couple years ago. Back then, it was about $6/lb, delivered. Looking on Amazon, other vendors sell wild rice for <$6/lb.

There's no way I'm spending $10/lb on Roland Extra Fancy Grade A (unspecified as to Minnesota vs Canuckistan, cultivated or truly "wild"). Yes, the $20 off coupon might save some bucks, but their prices are ridiculous to start with.

Here's a website that seems to offer a decent variety of wild rice at reasonable prices:

My wife and I just bought $500 bucks worth of stuff from this place

http://www.barryfarm.com/

The shipping wasn't too bad considering the weight, we got 75 lbs of organic Jasmine white rice and 75 lbs of various organic dry beans, we also order a bunch of misc stuff like dried fruit, etc.... i haven't got it yet, so don't take this as a recommendation, but it was one of the few places with organic jasmine.

Re: Roland Foods @ amazon - $20 off

I have some Roland foods.

Some of their products are organic, others are not. All of them are made in communist China. Melamine in the baby milk, lead in the toys, heavy metals in everything, counterfeit Pandas on eBay, so much smog the crops don't produce, China.

It's tasty stuff, but knowing it's a "red" product puts a damper on spaghetti night. If I had paid more attention, I would have found an alternative. Try the Soba noodles, they're delicious.

Thanks for the coupon!

do they make greek olives in china?

i ordered some local rice and indian rice and yes - buckwheat soba noodles.
:15_1_70v:

That's a good deal on fresh Soba noodles, even cheaper than the closeout store.

They get things from all over, but every time I've turned over a can of Roland, it's been canned in China. If you find that's not the case on your olives and sardines, please let me know!

Regards! :s9:
